Ingredients
- 225g self-raising flour
- 110g butter (or margarine)
- 110g caster sugar
- 1 medium egg
- 1 tbsp milk
- 12 tsp jam
Method
- Preheat oven to 180’C/Gas mark 6
- Sieve the flour into a large mixing bowl
- Add the butter or margarine (cut into small chunks)
- Rub the butter/margarine into the flour with your fingers until it looks like breadcrumbs
- Stir in the sugar
- Break the egg into a bowl and add the milk
- Whisk together
- Add the egg and milk mixture into the bowl with the flour, butter/margarine and sugar
- Knead the mixture together to make a firm ball
- Cut the ball into 12 equal pieces
- Put the balls onto a baking sheet (greased) and squash slightly
- Make a dent in each ball, filling with a teaspoon of jam
- Bake the buns for about 10-12 minutes
- Leave to cool before eating (the jam will be really hot).
