Potatoes ( form 6 months )


Potato supplies judicious amount of vitamins and minerals. Though these are not up to the mark of other vegetables, yet it has vitamins and minerals in it.

Potatoes are primarily made of carbohydrates and contain very little protein. This makes it an ideal diet for those excessively lean or thin people who desperately want to put on weight. The vitamin content includes vitamin-C and B-complex, which also help in proper absorption of carbohydrates.

Apart from the vitamins (B-complex, C), minerals and roughage, potatoes also contain certain substances called Carotenoids (lutein, zeaxanthin). Carotenoids are beneficial for heart health and the functioning of other internal organs. Again, since potatoes raises the glucose level in the blood and over-consumption may cause obesity, which puts pressure on your heart, you must be careful about how often you use potatoes for this health benefit.

Potato is high in alkaline sugars and these sugars can help in bringing down the acid levels in body. It is true for infants and toddlers as acidity can affect them. Moreover, potatoes can help prevent fermentation in intestines and promotes the growth of friendly bacteria.

Puree procedure

For 1 time meal

1/2 cup peeled chopped potatoes

1/2 cup water

For Freezing( 1 week only)

2 cup peeled chopped potatoes

1.5 cup water

In a sauce pan boil  Peeled and chopped potatoes in water until soft and tender. remove from heat and blend with electric blender until soft and lumps free puree is reading.

Note: start introducing semi solid to solid food when your baby is 6 months old. start introducing from

1- 2 tps in first week

2-2.5 tps in second week

1 tablespoon in third week

2 tablespoon in fourth week

also according to the appetite of your baby
